He Is My Refuge!

Today's Scripture

"If you say, 'The Lord is my refuge,' and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 'Because he loves me,' says the Lord, 'I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.'"

Psalms 91:9–16

Whatever It Is, He Can Deliver You

God has made us a promise. When we put our hope in him, he will take care of us in all things. God knew how hard it would be for us. We all have decisions to be made. Will we make God our refuge? Will we take him at his word, when he says he will take care of us?

The promise God makes to us is clear.

"Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation." Psalms 91:14–16

"Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, 'King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty's hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.' Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, 'Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?' They replied, 'Certainly, Your Majesty.' He said, 'Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.' Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, 'Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!' So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them." Daniel 3:16–18, 24–27

God preserved their lives in the fire. Most importantly, God was there with them in the fire. God has the power to deliver you in every situation, just as he delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They were delivered from a fire made to kill them, and anyone close by would be injured and possibly killed as well. There is no fire, no problem — there is nothing that is too big for God to fix. The only thing God can't change is your response to him. If you tell him no, he won't force you to follow him. Let God have your life. You won't be disappointed. God can deliver you from your struggles. Make God your refuge today.
